Completing a fitness instructing qualification is a very useful stepping stone on the way to becoming a personal trainer. It will allow you to dip your toe into the water and gain valuable work experience so you can evaluate if the fitness industry is the right industry for you.

Lifetime offers a range of Fitness Instructor courses that will allow you to take your first step into the fitness industry. You can complete a Fitness Instructor course in as little as 4-6 weeks.

Government Funded for 16-18 year olds

Through the Lifetime Fitness Academy we are able to offer fully government funded courses to become a Fitness Instructor. This is the perfect entry level course to begin working as a fitness instructor with one of the industry's leading employers. You will complete a 17 day week full-time (Mon-Fri 9-5) classroom-based course giving you all the skills and knowledge required to work as a fitness instructor. You will then be supported into a job where you complete your Fitness Instructor Apprenticeship, whilst earning an apprentice wage.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course you just need to be aged 16-18, not currently in other education, employment or training, or hold a degree or HND. If you fit the bill you can access this course and start your new career as Fitness Instructor!

For those that don't meet the criteria for our government funded programme we also offer flexible self-fund options that can be studied at your own pace.

Our fitness instructor qualification is the perfect foundation for those wishing to work in a gym. Preparing you to induct clients onto gym equipment and enable you to safely and effectively plan and supervise their workouts, it also provides you with the accredited units for the Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training or Group Exercise to Music (ETM) qualifications.
