Free courses to be a Fitness Instructor

Completing a fitness instructing qualification is a very useful stepping stone on the way to becoming a personal trainer. It will allow you to dip your toe into the water and gain valuable work experience so you can evaluate if the fitness industry is the right industry for you.

Lifetime offer a range of Fitness Instructor Awards that will allow you to take your first step into the fitness industry. You can complete a Fitness Instructor Award in as little as 4-6 weeks.

Through our partnership with the National Skills Academy we are able to offer fully government funded courses to become a Fitness Instructor. This is the perfect entry level course to begin working as a fitness instructor with one of the industry's leading employers. You will complete a 4 week full-time (Mon-Fri 9-5) classroom based course giving you all the skills and knowledge required to work as a fitness instructor. You will then be supported for 12 weeks in your first role as a fitness instructor by your own personal tutor.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course you just need to be 16 or more on the first day of training. If you don't currently hold a degree or an HND then you can access this course absolutely free of charge, now that isn't bad for a course with a market value of £3,500!

Not everyone can give up 16 weeks to train to be a fitness instructor so we also offer flexible self-fund options that can be studied at your own pace.

The Fitness Instructor Award is offered for £595 and involves 40 hours distance learning then attendance on a 4 day gym instructing course. This is followed by theory and practical assessment.

Most clubs now require their fitness instructing staff to offer class instruction as well as working on the gym floor.

The Professional Fitness Instructor Award is offered for £695 and this will qualify you to work on the gym floor as a gym instructor and also offer group studio cycling or circuits classes. Fitness Instructors who can teach classes as well as working on the gym floor can command a higher income and are more employable.

With the introduction of REPs many experienced fitness instructors are finding that their fitness instructing qualification is no longer recognised.

Lifetime have developed a distance learning fitness instructing course for just £345 for instructors that have at least 6 months programming experience within a gym environment.
