Personal training studio jobs

Not surprisingly, personal training studio jobs are highly prized. Let's look at what personal training studio jobs have to offer.

Personal training studio jobs solve two of the biggest problems for freelance trainers - how to find clients (marketing), and where to train them. Because you work for an established training facility, they will do the marketing - clients will contact them when they are looking for a trainer, the studio then matches them up with the right individual based on their needs and their schedule.

They also provide the perfect place to work out - all the equipment is provided, there are no safety issues, in short, it is an environment conducive to good workouts.

So how do you find these cushy positions? It's a combination of qualifications and experience. To start with, you must have a Level 3 qualification that makes you eligible for membership of REPS. These include:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Instructing Physical Activity and Exercise (awarded by City and Guilds, Active IQ, OCR, VTCT and CYQ)

  • Level 3 Certificate in Advanced Fitness Instructing (awarded by Active IQ, City & Guilds, CYQ, NCFE, VTCT and OCR)

  • Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training (awarded by Active IQ and CYQ) However, that is just a starting point. Further qualifications at level 4, and specialization in areas such as Swiss Ball, Cycling, Back Care, etc, will make you much more marketable.

In addition, you will need at least a year's experience, and good recommendations from clients you have worked with.
