Certificate in Circuit Training

A vocationally related qualification (VRQ), at Level 2 on the National Qualifications Framework. It is also recognised by REPs at Level 2.

This qualification is aimed at qualified instructors who wish to deliver circuit training. Candidates will broaden their skills as gym instructors by developing their ability to plan and deliver safe and effective non-music based circuit training sessions.

Qualifications and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Points

  • Premier Certificate in Instructing Circuit Sessions
  • Active IQ Certificate in Instructing Circuit Sessions
  • 20 REPs CPD points

Course Content

  • How to plan, teach and evaluate a safe and effective circuit training session
  • Health and safety considerations
  • Circuit training alternatives and techniques
  • Setting up a session

Entry Requirements

Candidates should hold a Level 2 qualification in Gym or Exercise to Music instruction as listed and recognised by REPs.

Some experience of circuit training is useful but not essential. The course requires physical exertion and individual participation is essential; therefore, a degree of physical fitness is necessary. There is also an element of communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) involved and candidates should have basic skills in communication pitched at Level 2.

Length and Format of Course

The course consists of 1 workshop and 1 assessment day. These attendance days are supported by online learning materials.
