Training
The course is designed to develop in health care professionals an understanding of the signs, symptoms and risks indicative of the development of coronary heart disease (CHD), cardio-vascular disease and diabetes management.

An important theme of the training is for the student to motivate and educate the patient to understand the link with lifestyle habits and CHD risk. Also the student will become proficient in using diagnostic tools (blood pressure monitor, palm top blood lipid analyser and laptop based diagnostic software).

Components of training
Training will involve a minimum of 25 hours and should require no more that 40 hours of study to complete. The course is split into TWO main sections.

Part 1. FULL training day is required at a roadtohealth training venue. The main learning outcomes are to become proficient in using diagnostic software, taking blood pressure and taking blood capillary samples (cholesterol, HDL and glucose).

Part 2. Long distance learning will involve studying TEN topics. ALL the information required will be available in the Long Distance Learning (LDL) Manual.

However websites and indicative reading lists are encouraged to further reinforce learning outcomes and enrich the learning experience.

Recruitment
You need to be self-motivated and willing to travel locally between clinics in your area. All you need is transport, Internet access and a laptop.
