Amac training Personal Trainer course units

The Amac training personal trainer course is made up of five individual courses which gives you a flexible approach to the way you study. All modules are CYQ (Central YMCA Qualifications) certified and can be taken in their entirety or as separate units if you aren't interested in receiving the entire award. It has also been updated to follow the industry's new occupational standards.

The 5 courses listed will include units to expand your skill levels and give you a personal trainer qualification. The courses and units include:

  1. Training Environments

    This unit gives trainers the skills and knowledge set to create fitness programmes in environments outside the gym; for example, at a client's workplace, home or outside using a range of transportable gear combined with walking.
    • Creating client specific programmes
    • Utilizing space which is limited
    • Encorporating resistance bands, hand weights, medicine balls, focus pads, skipping rope, stability balls, and steps into your workouts
    • Utilizing exercises that relay on bodyweight
    • Outdoor training
    • Walking
    • Health and safety

  2. Advanced Fitness Instructor

    This unit contains a study pack for home including advanced physiology and anatomy which will also be dealt with in the classroom.
    • Physiology and anatomy (advanced level)
    • Teaching skills (advanced level)
    • Kinesiology (advanced level)
    • Body adaptations and the effects of exercise
    • Anaerobic and aerobic methods of training (advanced level)
    • Behaviour change and exercise psychology

    • Motor skills training
    • Training for core stability

  3. Lifestyle & Fitness Assessment

    To ensure your clients can attain thier greatest potential, you'll be required to gauge their levels of fitness and health. This comes with the development of your interpersonal skills which help you set goals, gather information and design specialized programmes that suit your client.
