  • Tact & diplomacy

Getting Certification

Before you'll be able to teach any groups of potential exercise enthusiasts, you'll need to train with a certified organization. In the UK, the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity – CIMSPA  ensures that all training standards are maintained and monitored as well as accrediting specific courses and training bodies. With legitimate training, you will be able to apply to work at one of the many gyms and health clubs across the UK. There are a number of organizations that can certify you, so choosing one can be a mine field. Which one is best for you? Before you make your decision, you may want to do some research.

What you need to look for in training:

When you are looking at training, you are able to place your focus on group, water-based or gym exercises. Whichever way you go you will be able to gain CIMSPA entry (level 2) which is what most employers look for when hiring. There may also be a way to get training through an apprenticeship scheme which you can speak to your local gym about.

Before you begin your employment, you will also have to look into first aid and public liability insurance as well as a CPR certification.
