For those who want to run child fitness sessions unsupervised, Focus Training's Instructing Health Related Exercise for Children could be the course for you. With 3 day training (a some pre-course reading), this course provides child fitness knowledge and skills to the practitioner to teach, pre-plan and assess fitness sessions for children ages 5-16. You will recieve a Central YMCA Qualifications Certificate in Instructing Health Related Exercise for Children (Level 2) upon completion of the course.

Course Content:

  • Child fitness activities
  • Physical and fitness components
  • Joints and the skeleton
  • Body systems including muscular & cardiovascular
  • Session planning
  • Healthy eating and nutrition
  • Health & safety

Course assessment includes:

  • Assessment of teaching
  • Exercise planning
  • Case study
  • Theory of exercise & fitness exam

To take this course, you must:
  • Have a successful screening by the Criminal Records Bureau
